BAILEYTON, Ala. – The Baileyton Senior Center on Thursday morning honored community veterans, presenting them with small American flags and serving up chicken and dumplings from Kim’s Parkside Catfish restaurant.

Pat Dyar, wife of Baileyton Mayor Johnny Dyar, said, “In previous years, we’d have 10 to 15 more veterans compared to this year, but that’s OK.”

Honored were James Burks, Air Force; Bobby Martin, Army; Gene Sumner, Army; and Johnny Dyar, Marines.

Said Pat Dyar, “Really, thanks to Parkside for giving chicken and dumplings for the seniors to have today. We’re having a Thanksgiving dinner on the 21st; we’ve invited the sheriff’s office, and Parkside will cater.”
